San Diego is arguably the global center for skateboarding and Peter Smolik rules its underground. A So Cal native he started out skating on a neighbor’s cast-off board and progressed to become one of the heavy innovators of Street Style skateboarding. His methodical, dogged approach results in a highly technical, impossible-for-everyone-else category of tricks. Shunning the usual corporate endorsed pro route, Smolik set out on his own to establish Sk8Mafia, an independent team made up of some of the best new gen skaters from San Diego. Quickly gaining solid industry cred, Sk8Mafia competes against the establishment with an outsider spirit inherent to skateboarding.
